How To Spray Paint Your Car

1- Setup

Heat and dry circumstances are perfect for spray portray, as aerosols don't at all times work best within the damp and colder temperatures hinder drying time. 2- Preparation

To arrange for spraying, use aluminium oxide abrasive paper (graded at eighty grit) to rub the floor to be painted down to bare metal. Apply a rust treatment product if required, following the manufacturer's directions and permitting it to dry fully. 

3- Masking Up

The area to be painted ought to now be clean and dry - any traces of grime or wax can be removed using cellulose thinners. Mask off any areas not being painted using masking tape and newspaper (to keep away from exhausting edges, enhance the area to be painted by shifting the masking tape back gradually as you apply every coat of paint).  

4- Spraying Primer

5- Preparing To Paint

6- Applying The Paint

7- Metallic Paint 

If you're using a metallic paint color, enable the paintwork 24 hours to dry then rub it down with 1200 grit moist and dry paper. It should lose its gloss look and tackle a boring, matt finish. Clear with heat, soapy water, rinse and dry. 

 8- Finishing

Now apply two coats of lacquer, separated by a spot of 15-minutes. Halfords stock a petroleum-resistant lacquer for fuel tanks/motorbikes etc.

If the finish looks patchy, apply one other coat of paint or wait until the floor is completely dry earlier than rubbing it down and starting the lacquering process again.

  2. Before you start with the spray painting, think of and create a comprehensive plan and design for you to have a good viewpoint of how the finished design will come out. Also, practice painting on a blank or test area for you to have a feel of how to handle the spray paint through the whole process.
